A police clearance certificate is a certificate that is produced as a consequence of a background investigation into an individual to identify any possible criminal histories, convictions or record. This document is crucial since it is needed to apply for visas to travel abroad and to get work- or study-related permits amongst others.
Police clearance certificates for Zimbabweans living within and outside the country are issued by the Zimbabwe Republic Police Criminal Investigation Department through its Criminal Records Office and the Central Criminal Bureau.
Requirements for locals
- Duly completed fingerprint form. Such form can be obtained at Kingstones bookshop or any other bookshop. After obtaining the form one can proceed to their nearest police station to get their fingerprints done.
- Payment of the prescribed fee.
- Proof of payment of the prescribed fee.
Requirements for foreigners
- Fingerprint form done at the local police station in the country that the applicant is resident in.
- Payment of the sum of US$ 75.00.
- Proof of payment of the above-mentioned sum.
